Dancing Fool

Last night was GREAT!! Picked Sage up on my way to the Owl & Thistle. When we arrived, Julie was there with Mark. Grace showed up shortly after we got there and Carie showed up as well. Grace never wastes any time, and we danced moments after her coat was off. I felt pretty good about my dancing last night. Not so stressed out about not being on the beat after the turns. I love it when Carie is there. Something comforting about having my instructor there to coach me on the fly. That didn't come out right. You know what I mean.

Danced with Emily several times last night as well as another girl named Emily seated at the same table as Emily. I was in heaven! Grace helped me make a breakthrough in my dancing last night. She showed me how when slow dancing you can move away from your partner dropping one hand to improvise all sorts of sexy turns. Of course I love dancing with Julie. I danced to a couple of songs that I had never danced to. Always been afraid to dance to St. James Infirmary and I Love Paris. I Love Paris almost feels like a Tango (which I don't know). But I just made it up as I went along. I was feeling pretty confident leading.


Sage

While dancing with Emily I thanked her for dummying it down for me. She was sweet, she said, "I'm not dummying it down, It's my job to follow your lead. I can't wait to have a larger arsenal of dance steps and moves. Carie was great coaching me while we danced, she said OK now lets do the cuddle right into the reverse cuddle. This shit is AWESOME. The music really rocks and swings, and the tiny dance floor was packed all night!

During the set break I performed for Emily and her three girl friends. Busted out the classic Elmsly effect Between Your Palms . Actually it was the Between Elmsly, Brown & Himber routine (from The Last Kabbala) modified to use the tricky wallets I had made while in China. I put the routine out on VHS years ago. Perhaps it's time to release it on DVD. I still have plenty of the wallets left. It really is an excellent routine. I also performed my standard coin routine: Roll out to star, coin vanish, reproduction, falling up and then into 3 Fly. I was prepared to do my linking bar straws but though I should quit while I was ahead. The band started back up and we all danced the night away. I handed out a few business cards and hope that there might be a gig or two in that crowd.

The evening ended with me going over to Sage's house and having a late night jam session till dawn. Got to show the Gallo Purse Frame routine to Peter. I had done it for Steve at the last session, as well as putting it in my Fenix rotation. I also did Quick Silver with is getting back to where it once was. My transitions into the purse palm are feeling much smoother.
