World Magic Seminar • day 1

While I did save a couple of hundred dollars using Priceline.com for my airfare, I missed the first day of the convention and flew to Vegas from Seattle with a connection in LA. I got in around midnight. I was met by Phil Young at the airport. He had driven in from Tulsa, OK for the orgy of magic that was about to unfold. Not only did he pick me up and take me to The Orleans, Hotel and Casino but he presented me with a gift of a few cigars.

I took my bags to the room, waking Steve Ameden in the process. We chatted briefly and I headed down to the bar to enjoy a cigar with Phil. We talked for an hour or so catching up on the last 15 years since we had seen each other. We did a few tricks for one another and spied what other magicians were around.

I called it an early night as I needed to be up for the Close-Up Contest. Check in was at 8:30AM, Contest at 9:00AM

I went to bed, visualizing my program for the contest. In my mind, it went perfect. The next day would prove to be a very different story.
