Talked to my little kids!

Talked to my little kids this evening! They sounded great. Seems that they all went back to Cincinnati to visit for a week. The live in lover went too. Do I hear wedding bells? OY!

I was so happy to hear the kids voices. They were excited to talk to me too. I asked Moira when I can see them next week. She had to check their busy schedule. Monday works for me as well as Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday! Hopefully I'll get to spend the whole day with them. That would be nice. Maybe find a lake to go swimming in. Last summer we would go swimming twice a week at Lake Sammamish. That was fun. Since they moved to Cle Elum in January, I hardly see them at all. That will be changing soon, I feel it in my lawyers bones.

Star Light, Star Bright

I wish I may, I wish I might talk on the phone with my kids tonight.

Moira called me yesterday morning to tell me that they were back in town and that they were out of cell phone range for a week (yeah. . . right). She said she would have the kids call me when they got up. Either she forgot, the kids never got up or she is playing the predictable games that divorced people play. I left another message this morning. I wanted to see them last week. I want to see them even more this week. It's a shame that people can't just talk to each other. I will take my fight to spend more time with my children to the courts.

Real World Bullshit

Too Fucking Weird For Words

This is a nutty car I saw today at Pike Place Market.

Alki Beach Session

Another good one. Well attended, Steve, Tim, Mark, Astrid, Scotty, Pete, Tony and Special Guests Nash Fung (recently graduated from college with a degree in Philosophy and creator of Color Fusion), and Wil & Carie. (An urban shaman and an his girl, the best dance instructor in the city!) Always a good night of magic, sharing, performing, teaching and watching. Wil gave me some pics that I will have to post, but now I need to go and see if I can make some money. Dance night tonight and I have to pay last week's bar tab as well. Absent minded, I left the pub without taking care of it. I thought my dancing was good last week but then again I stiffed the bartender. We'll see, I'm expecting great things tonight.

Life

My worst day street performing is always better then a good day at a real job. Not that I know much about real jobs. The buck stops with me. . . hopefully. I'm my own boss and a pretty lenient one at that. The other week I told myself I was quitting. I shared this with some friends who laughed and said, "You can't quit". I talked it over with my boss, he said, "Take a few days off, see how you feel, if you want to come back; you're always welcome". That's what I like about this job.

The weekend was a bit rough in places. Didn't do what I wanted in the hat, but the shows were fun and every one a learning experience. I could tell you things not to do after just about every one of my shows.

On Wednesday while playing golf, I broke the head off a golf club as drove off the tee. It snapped off with an angry CRACK! The club head went farther than the ball. I didn't know what to do, so I said casually, ,"I'd like to play the club head". This is the second time I've done this in the last 6 months.

Saturday I broke one of my linking rings. C'est la vie. One of my beautiful 14" rings that I bought as a set of 5 over 20 years ago. I noticed that I had two key rings in my hand. Ouch

Smile on my face, love in my heart. . . . I march on.

Sessions

Between Monday Night Magic, the Tuesday Night Session, Golfing and Dancing on Wednesday, Thursday's Cup and Ball night in Maple Valley, Street performing on Friday, Saturday & Sunday it's been a good week. Lots of activities, lots of interaction with interesting people.

There were a couple of first time attendee's at the Alki Beach Session: Pete Borrows and Tony Comito. We were also graced with a visit from Mr. Isaac Louie who treated us to his Magical Bullwhip Demonstration in the back yard. Fun stuff from a guy who understands funny. Scotty, Astrid, Mark, Tim & Steve also participated in an evening of magic. You know what I say? "The only thing better than a couple guys smoking cigars. . . . is four guys smoking cigars". We were puffing up my small dining room, cocktails getting cramped with 9 folks sitting around the table. Pete was impressed with Mark's nut and bolt trick (taught to him in strict confidence by Steve Dobson at one of our Alki sessions). Tony did a "Copper, Silver, Brass Routine". Pete did the "Gypsy Curse" with some very cool cards that he made himself. I performed a couple of Mike Gallo routines that I'm fond of. Purse frame routine with 3 copper coins and 3 silver coins surprise ending with 4 chinese coins and his no shell ball vase routine. Took me a while before I could perform it. I went into the kitchen and practiced it until I could do it. The boys liked my Riser Ball Vases. I like the little one for the gallo routine. Fun. Scotty did a Meyhew routine that Carpenter wrote up. New to me. Tim did a nice Hot Rod Routine. It was 2 or 3 before everyone was gone. Tim and I were golfing at 6:30AM, he was going to give me a wake-up call at 5:30AM, oy.

Pretty drive on the way to golf. I don't usually catch the sunrise behind the city and water view at the end of my street. Pretty day did not help my ugly round of golf.
